About

Hello and welcome to Chiswickpots.

My name is Roz Wallis, I set up Chiswickpots back in 2014. Chiswickpots has grown organically from a hobby to a business and is now a working artists studio / pottery school in the beautiful leafy riverside location of Dukes Meadows in Chiswick, West London, UK.

I run the pottery department at the Chiswick Art School which is based within The Pavilion, Dukes Meadows. I teach throwing to all levels of experience and ability along with hand building courses and various ceramic related workshops.

Over the years I have specialised in Raku and glaze-less alternative methods of firing.  A particular passion of mine is to throw large pots with influences such as, Hans Coper’s shapes with the colours of the mediterranean sea in the summer.

I also work as a ceramic artist from the studio. You can view and purchase some of my work via the gallery page.

Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss commission or collaboration, I’d love to hear from you.

TESTIMONIALS

  • "I feel very fortunate to have taken my first steps into pottery with Roz. Her patience, warmth and sense of fun have given me the confidence to keep on developing my skills. No matter what your experience with pottery, Roz has a true gift for sharing her knowledge, teaching and encouraging you every step of the way. Her ability to help all levels of experience and adapt the lessons is really something. I couldn't recommend Roz more highly.”

  • "I discovered Roz during lockdown when I had dabbled with a lump of clay and wanted to glaze and fire my efforts. Roz was very encouraging and soon I wanted to learn more and she has been the most amazing teacher. Patiently over the course of a few weeks she got me throwing bowls, trimming them and then Raku firing them. I was hooked and haven't stopped since.

  • "Pottery with Roz has been such an incredible journey for me. I've learnt so many varied techniques and there's a constant feeling of freedom to try new things but always with her guidance and expertise. I feel I've come such a long way in such a short amount of time. Lessons are an absolute joy and we always have a laugh!"

  • " I attended Roz’s intensive throwing course having not done any throwing for 30 years. The class was fun and informative and Roz is a great teacher and patient beyond compare. Every day I improved and by the end of the 5 day course, I was already pricing up wheels so I can throw at home! I will definitely be back to gain more expert teaching!"
