Kintsugi raku bowl

April 8, 2017 By Chiswick Pots

Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese method of repairing ceramics. It translates to ‘golden joinery’ which refers to the use of lacquer and gold powder (or other precious metals) to mend ceramics. It’s philosophy is that cracks or breaks are not flaws rather they are opportunities to make the pot more beautiful. Here are a couple of ChiswickPots kintsugi raku bowls using a turquoise glaze.
